Welcome to Heidelberg - the young old town
Welcome to Heidelberg!
You will quickly see for yourself what makes our town so special: its many historical sights are complemented by the stunning countryside that provides a harmonious backdrop for the castle and Old Town nestling between the hills and the river.
Heidelberg has preserved the romantic flair that once fascinated painters and poets and even now still attracts millions of visitors from all over the world. But this isn't to say that it lives in the past. On the contrary: the city that hosts Germany's oldest university has long been a major international location for science and business. Numerous companies have evolved in the field of medical and biomedical research, creating excellent prospects for Heidelberg in the future.
Internationality is also a feature of the countless educational institutions in Heidelberg, including the Hochschule für Internationales Management, which gives young people the chance to prepare themselves for an international career in communication-oriented service professions. I am delighted that in this way several hundred students are able to discover and appreciate Heidelberg, and, following an intensive course of study, then proceed to carry memories of our town and hence its name out into the world and society as a whole.
I would like to wish the students the best of luck with their studies as well as their professional endeavours.
Dr. Eckart Würzner,
Lord Mayor of Heidelberg
Thank you for your interest in our degree programmes, which provide a basis for your professional future in international business. A career without borders calls for management know-how, strong communication skills in the major foreign languages, and strong potential for personal development.
Our website provides an overview of how studying with us prepares you for your international career, as well as details of the internationally recognised degrees available at the HIM.
Obviously, this material will not answer all your questions. We therefore look forward to welcoming you soon at the HIM as our guest. By visiting Heidelberg you will be able to find out all about the study programmes in an individual consultation, to attend lectures in the subjects that interest you, and to get to know our teaching staff and students. This will help you understand the requirements of the study programmes and whether they match your interests and goals. Above all, you will be getting a feel for what we hope will become your university.
Prof. Dr. Matthew Kershaw,
President, Hochschule für Internationales Management Heidelberg - International University
